Preface
In this project, I chose to compare the three story of Lord of the Flies, Things Fall Apart, and Animal Farm. This is because that these stories are all related to the society today. In the society today, people want power and money which cause them to do things that harm others or the society. Leaders will take money, fight for power and anything they can to survive. People are selfish, greedy, and harmful. Their ideas, thoughts, and action were just like animal. In the story of Lord of the Flies, Jack as a leader at the end wants power and tries to over throw Ralph. It is just like in the past where Leaders fight for land, resources, and power. In the story Things Fall Apart, Westerners enter Africa to conquer them, but they don’t use strength and fist. Instead, they use religion to influence the people and make the people follow them. Then, they use the power people give them to over throw the Africans that don’t follow them. This shows how people use different ways to complete their goal. People will do anything they can to survive, grow, and reach their goal. Lastly, in the story of Animal Farm, the pigs use the idea of communism to ask other animals to support them and help them overthrow farmers. Later on, Napoleon then kick Snowball out because of power and uses his trained dog to control other animals by dictatorship. Lastly, Napoleon acts like human when they control the animals. In this story, it shows how people wants power so much that they can betray friends and use their own friends as slave. After I read Animal farm, I wonder if it’s humans that act like animals, or is it animals that act like human when we kill and over throw people. Hmm….
In my newspaper, I used a time period to write about how leaders fail and how government collapse. These give people more understanding of what the stories are about. In my letter and post card, I talk about how characters meet problems and how people act after leader collapse. For the book cover, I make the background black and white because it shows that the society is always dark. I make the author’s name in color because he thinks society will get better. In the poem, I compare what pigs do and what man do to show how similar is human and animals alike. For the wanted poster, I listed out all the things Napoleon did as a leader and it’s all negative. Lastly the map of Things Fall Apart, it shows how people want power and go all around the world with all kinds of ways to conquer a land.

The Society
There are tons of novels and stories around the world. Each of the books has its very own style, but all of them have similar parts. For example, in the story Lord of the Flies by William Golding, it shows how a society is started and how it collapse because of power and fights. In the story Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, it shows how people want power and uses different way to conquer a country and take over it. Lastly, in the story Animal Farm by George Orwell, it shows how people fight for peace and end up fighting more for power. All these three stories symbolize how a society collapse and how people act. This also shows the failure of leader where they are all over taken by others.
In the story Lord of the flies, a group of students live in an unknown island due to an airplane accident. In the island, there are no rules or leaders. Later on, they chose a leader Ralph and tried to rule and control everyone, but people disagree. Lastly, Jack the antagonist decided to split up with Ralph and form a tribe with his followers. This causes the staring of war and fights over power. Throughout this story, it shows that a country with no leader will become chaos, and also that even if there is a leader, not everyone will agree with it. People will fight over for power and cause collapse. (Nazir, 1) For example, when the group of students first enters the island, there is no leader and that everyone does what they want and it’s a total chaos. Later on, Ralph was chosen as a lead of the group, but Jack and his follower were not happy with it. Later on, Jack fines ways to try to make Ralph in trouble and decide to split up. This begins the failure of Ralph where his ruling collapses. (Nazir, 1) Jack split up with Ralph with his people and tries to get more power than Ralph’s group by fighting them.

This shows how people fight for power. Being a leader is hard; they need to make everyone accept what they did and what they changed.
In the story of Things Fall Apart, Okonkwo is the main character and he is a brave man in the book, but was known as a tragic hero. Okonkwo fight well and do everything well, but after he hurt his wife during peace day, he was expelled from his village. After a few years, westerners enter their village and pass the idea of Christianity to them. The village then ends. In this book, it shows how people use different ways to conquer or take control of other countries. It also shows how a leader fails to handle a country. (Brians, 1) For example, when the westerners enter the village, they didn’t start a war with the people there. They decide to use religion to invade and convert the people into their team. People that really believe in god will join their church and convince other people to join. This is also a way to take over and gain power in a country. After the westerners enter the village, the village fall and ends. The leader of the village fails to protect its village and end up having no power to control his people. This story also shows us that there are many ways to work a problem out. We don’t need to fight for power but also by talking. I (Brians, 1) there is a Chinese quote stating that “Wise man move their mouth but not their fist.” In this quote, it shows that leaders are not wise man. They use their fist and power to fight wars and not improving their country. Giving citizen better life doesn’t mean that they need more land. It means that they need better quality of living.
In the story Animal Farm, the animals in the farm decided to kick off the men that control them and sell them and make it an animalism meaning that animals have the right to do things (Lamont, 2). After old major who started the idea died Napoleon and Snowball the pigs take over the leader’s position. As they work over time, Napoleon kicked away both Snowball and human by lying to other animals. In this story, there are two collapse of leader.

First is Snowball and second is human. Napoleon wants too much power that he chose to betray his friend. Later, when Napoleon gains everyone’s trust, he does whatever he wants. He took over the men’s equipment and land because of the idea of animalism, but at the end, he forgot about the idea and starts to act like human again. Because of Napoleon, Snowball as a friend and a leader fail to control others animals. Human as ruler of Napoleon fail to control him. Napoleon uses the idea of fighting war for peace and asks the animals to help him gain power. In reality, if there is war, there will not be peace. Peace is for people that use other ways to control but not war. War is only creating more war.
“In a country, a leader change, but the chair they sit never change.” Everyone wants to be leader, but is there any leader consider as a good leader? People talks about how they want to change a country, but did they really do what we expect? Every leader once say, “I will do my best,” but they take money of the citizen. Leaders fail because of the chair but not leader. If a country starts with nothing, then a leader will only do their job. Money makes people work. For example, Chen Shuay Bien in Taiwan is a smart president, but he used his brain on negative way. People think that he can do his best for us, but after he sit onto the chair, everything changed. He starts to steal citizen’s tax money and everything he can. People are greedy, they want money and power. By getting to their goals, they use different ways. For example, some leader spread the words “fight in a war for peace” or “pay more tax to gain better quality of life.” These words are only to confuse people and make people work for them. War will never give people peace, but only more war. People revenge and fight again, and that’s why people make nuclear bomb. Leaders only use the words to make people fight for more land.  Paying more tax will not give people better quality of life. It only gives the leader more money in his pocket. People should get smarter and not just following leader’s words. After reading the three books, I finally understand the world of government, the world

of adults, and the world of evil. Don’t always trust who you always trust, and don’t always work for who you always work for.
